***
Tirpis are unique creatures that are the spokesmen of the world elements. They were created by [[Aroa Kubo]] and the [[Last Voices]] to serve as guardians and peacemakers of [[Ascelia]]. Because of their purpose, their emotions are largely suppressed and are generally logical in all matters they oversee.
### Description
![[Tirpis Design.png]]
Tirpis appear as a cute bipedal creature with cat and fox characteristics. Due to their status as a "spirit" creature, their tails take on a mist-like appearance, with the color of the tail corresponding to their attuned element and have the Tirpis sigil at the base of the tail. Tirpis do not exceed two feet in height and weigh on average 13 pounds. Despite the weight, they have the unique ability to float (flight is solely present in air-oriented Tirpis).
![[04 sippy.png]]
While in combat, they take on a more animal-like appearance. They become grounded and their tails appear smoky with a heavier emphasis on their attributed elements. Additionally, the elements' coloring is more apparent on the Tirpis, and will even pour out of their mouths. This not only fully unleashes their magical prowess, but it actively instills fears into their opponents with relative ease. Due to this regal yet terrifying form, they usually take this form when necessary or away from civilization.
Tirpis can also adapt a humanoid form to blend in with human society. This form completely hides the Tirpis' true form and sets limitations to their magical prowess (this limitation further helps them blend into human society). However, in this humanoid form Tirpis are significantly easier to kill in this form (i.e. what would normally kill a humanoid will also kill a Tirpis). Additionally, this form is hard to maintain, with the record being six consecutive days.
### Creation
To ensure that society wouldn't crumble thanks to the new appearance of [[Aumtra]], [[Aroa Kubo]] looked to the [[Elemental Crystal]]s for guidance and was instructed to destroy all of them (save the Crystal of Time), and use the broken shards to create the Tirpis, with the first set being made strictly from the crystal cores. These first Tirpis were called the [[Last Voices]], and had [[Dakota Agnusdei]] directly involved with the creation process; all other Tirpis would subsequently be made by [[Aroa Kubo]] and the [[Last Voices]]. This process would effectively be the counterpart to the Leshiye that would be born through [[Aumtra]].
Similar to Leshiye, the Tirpis are unable to reproduce since they are given a corporeal from via a crystal shard. In order for more Tirpis to come into the world (or to replace any slain Tirpis), there are only three ways in which more can be brought into existence:
1. [[Aroa Kubo]] takes a shard of an [[Elemental Crystal]] and creates a Tirpis based on the elemental alignment of the crystal shard
2. [[Aroa Kubo]] creates more Tirpis by sacrificing lives to supply the necessary energy (though there is a unique case where the energy can be provided by someone else)
3. [[Aroa Kubo]] converts a willing humanoid, [[Piscele]], or [[Numittao]] into a Tirpis, in exchange for the creature to sacrifice all of their current memories
The process normally takes about an hour for [[Aroa Kubo]] to create a new Tirpis. Unfortunately, each option has detrimental effects:
- [ ] *For option 1*, the shards from an [[Elemental Crystal]] are limited. Should a Tirpis be slain, the crystal that is left behind loses all magical potential, thus leaving the shards as a non-renewable resource.
- [ ] *For option 2*, the amount of lives needed to create Tirpis wildly varies depending on what element the new Tirpis will embody, with stronger elements requiring exponentially more lives. Provided is an estimate of the amount of lives used to create Tirpis (this includes, flora, fauna, humanoids, [[Numittao]], and any currently existing Tirpis)
- [ ] [[Core Element]]: About 53 million lives (5.2857x10^7)
- [ ] [[Dual Element]]: About 106 trillion lives (1.0571x10^14)
- [ ] [[Binder Element]]: About 2 quintillion lives (1.5857x10^18)
- [ ] There is a unique case where [[Dakota Agnusdei]] can provide the energy needed instead, thus removing the need to sacrifice lives. However, because [[Dakota Agnusdei]] is a non-native Ascelian, he is not readily available to provide the needed energy.
- [ ] *For option 3*, the process itself is considered the safest option. The process does demand a lot of power from [[Aroa Kubo]] and the [[Last Voices]], and forces all participants to rest after making a Tirpis. This rest specifically puts them into a coma-like state, with the amount of years based on the element the new Tirpis embodies (a simple conversion would be a millisecond for every life that would have been used in *Option 1*).
- [ ] [[Core Element]]: About 15 hours
- [ ] [[Dual Element]]: About 3.35 millennium
- [ ] [[Binder Element]]: About 50,247.8 millennium
- [ ] Additionally, this process does not guarantee that the newly created Tirpis does not learn of its past life; although memories cannot be restored, the Tirpis may adapt some aspects of their past life to better blend into society (which can be detrimental in some cases)
- [ ] [[Aroa Kubo]] oversees the creation of [[Core Element]] Tirpis, whereas the [[Last Voices]] oversee the [[Dual Element]] Tirpis. Due to this, only one [[Dual Element]] Tirpis was made after [[Dakota Agnusdei]] returned to [[Terahuret]].
### Diet
Tirpis require nourishment similar to humanoids, however the desire to eat is nonexistent. Tirpis rather only eat out of necessity to replenish used magical energy. Eating food does replenish energy, but only at 50% efficiency. Instead, it is easier to consume the direct lifeforce of living organisms to replenish their energy.
There are two food sources that Tirpis can seek: humanoids and Surki. Due to their altruistic nature, Tirpis specifically hunt out Surki first before seeking hostile humanoids or any creatures affiliated with the [[Binder Element]] (civilians are generally not considered a threat and are thus ignored as potential targets).
### Relationships
> [!column | flex no-t]
>> [!info | ttl-c no-i]- [[Numittao]]
>> - [ ] Tirpis are not very keen on dealing with [[Numittao]]. They are regarded as "naive creatures" tainted by [[Aumtra]]; however the Tirpis recognize that the [[Numittao]] do not pose any immediate threat to others around them, and thus are treated with decency.
>> - [ ] Leshiye are the only type of [[Numittao]] that are treated differently by the Tirpis; since they both act as spokesmen for the elements, they behave more as comrades or siblings. The main distinction is that Tirpis can be made from specific sources, whereas Leshy are only formed when any type of flora gain the [[Aumtratic Essence]].
>
>> [!info | ttl-c no-i]- [[Piscele]]
>> - [ ] Tirpis actively hunt the [[Piscele]] and do everything possible to remove them. They consider them highly dangerous due to the fact that they can manipulate [[Aumtra]], which is affiliated with the [[Binder Element]].
>> - [ ] Tirpis have granted amnesty to [[Aroa Kubo]] due to her direct involvement in creating the Tirpis, as well as her use in being the only person capable of creating more Tirpis without detrimental side effects.
>
>> [!info | ttl-c no-i]- Humanoids
>> - [ ] Due to humanoid's constant wars in the past, Tirpis are aware that they are capable of extreme violence and prejudice. Thus they treat the majority of humanoids in a distant manner. There are a few people that are exempt from this treatment, but preferences will vary depending on the individual Tirpis.
>> - [ ] Tirpis are designed to see society progress as a whole, so despite their distant demeanor they are very altruistic towards native Ascelians. Many Tirpis partake in shopping, contract work, and other activities to help boost or maintain social economies. Anyone that is afflicted with the [[Aumtratic Curse]], however, are considered highly dangerous and are slain on sight (because [[Aumtra]] is present, Tirpis will actively avoid consuming these creatures).
>> - [ ] Humanoids that come from other dimensions, however, are viewed as highly dangerous. Tirpis will try to keep these travelers far away from society to avoid any harm to native Ascelians. They are under severe supervision to ensure that these travelers are not actively tied to the [[Binder Element]]. If they are not, they are given a choice to either return home via the [[Crystal Gate]] or be given an opportunity to live in [[Ascelia]].
>> - [ ] ***NOTE:*** The choices are only a facade. Tirpis do not care for outsiders and will always prefer them as their source of sustenance. They are always consumed away from any public setting.
>> - [ ] [[Dakota Agnusdei]] is an exception; he is treated with respect by all Tirpis in hopes that they can keep him in [[Ascelia]] to render [[Aumtra]] inert and to cleanse native Ascelians of the [[Aumtratic Curse]].
>> - [ ] Centarus and Merfolk are a unique case; despite sharing traits with both Humanoids and [[Numittao]], Tirpis have a tendency to have a better relationship with them compared to others.
>> - [ ] Tirpis love Centuars and Merfolk because they tend to have closer connections to magic, which Tirpis are primarily created from.
>> - [ ] Centuars and Merfolk do not actively participate in other societies, and since they don't cause issues the Tirpis are more willing to cooperate with them or provide aid.

- [ ] Although a Time [[Tirpis]] could technically be made, there is not a single one that exists within the world of [[Ascelia]]. This is due to the amount of energy and lives needed to create one, which would effectively wipe out all life on [[Ascelia]].
- [ ] Some time before the events of [[Dakota Agnusdei]] coming back to [[Ascelia]], [[Aroa Kubo]] stopped producing Tirpis for [[TASS]] due to a conflict of interest. The Tirpis have thus created more "Tirpis" on their own by copying [[Aroa Kubo]]'s techniques, however this has led to massive flaws:
- [ ] Option 1 has the Tirpis using various crystals and precious metals instead of [[Elemental Crystal]] shards. This results in a fragile "Tirpis" that deteriorates over time, and eventually dies off on its own (timing will vary depending on the amount and type of resources used).
- [ ] Option 2 is off the table since it contradicts their design to be altruistic to humanoids.
- [ ] Option 3 leaves the "Tirpis" with their original memories remain. This results in significant levels of unbridled emotions, as well as bias, selfish desires, and independent stubborn thinking. This also weakens the Tirpis used when conducting this process.
- [ ] 1 Tirpis = Level is reduced to 1
- [ ] 4 Tirpis = Level is reduced to 5
- [ ] 7 Tirpis = Level is reduced to 10
- [ ] 12 Tirpis = Level is reduced to 15
- [ ] Additionally, these new "Tirpis", regardless of the method used, do not come with the [[Elemental Aspect]]. This causes the creature to be weaker in power (though not very noticeable to other humanoids in [[Ascelia]]), as well as causing them to be "disconnected" from their assigned element.
- [ ] This disconnect further emphasizes individualistic behaviors and makes it much harder to properly oversee multiple establishments (e.g., a Water Tirpis can see all interactions near or within water within a kilometer, whereas a "Tirpis" will have a significantly shorter view and can only see activity up to a 250 foot radius)
- [ ] However, this does not cause any physical distinctions. Coloring and sheen of the tail and other forms remain the same, even without the [[Elemental Aspect]]
